My First Paycheck

My first paycheck, the fruit of my one month's labour from my internship position and guess how I spent almost the first quarter of it cliche of all cliches, buying dinner for my family or in the Malaysian lingo, "belanja them dinner".

Our dinner took place earlier this evening at "Paparich", a restaurant/cafe that we've never been before today. After shopping at the Amway shop nearby, we drove up the hill to the closest "Paparich" franchise in the neighbourhood. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but the crowd began to file in as the time nears to the dinner rush.

The meal was delightful. Mom ordered chicken rice, a set meal consisting of steam chicken, a huge plating of rice, a little bowl of soup, a small plate of bean sprouts and a selection of two dipping sauces. The meal was added on with a beverage or rather, a dessert consisting of soy milk with pandan "tang yuan" and longan. Mom said that her meal was worth the money as it's huge.

For my bro, a serving of dry curry noodles with steamed chicken and a beverage called  "milo dinosaur". To see him chow down the meal like it was the best meal ever was already satisfying for me.^^

Last but not least, my plate of fish fillet which comes with a dory fish fillet(of course), an egg(sunny side up), a handful of fries, a tiny serving of fried rice and a few pieces of cucumber. I also ordered a glass of Papa white coffee which is of course white coffee(iced) but its aroma and taste was wonderful.

The meal was a delight especially with my mom and bro around and of course the food was good and up to standard. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends out there who want to enjoy a scrumptious meal with friends and family. May you enjoy it as much as I did.

A picture speaks a thousand words, here are some photos of our delightful family dinner or rather the dinner I first paid for...

My bro, Tim devouring his "Milo Dinosaur".

Tim, already half-way done with his meal, as his was the first to arrive.

Mom's dessert, note the amount of Longan and "tang yuan" in the soup!  YUM!

Mom's full course meal.
Anti clockwise direction : the steamed chicken,  duo dipping sauces , the huge serving of chicken rice, the tiny bowl of soup and the saucer of bean sprouts ^^

At last my dinner is here !!

May all my friends have a wonderful weekend with their families, God bless all of us ~^^~

Metamorphosed.

It has been a while since my last post so I've decided to start anew. New template, new profile & profile pic and of course, new blog name.

I've always love the colour purple, it's the combination of both the "hot" and the "cold", red and blue giving it a neutral aura, it's special and has a mixture of meanings which is both spirituality and royalty. Papillon which means butterfly in French holds a certain significance in my life. My brother loves butterflies when he was little and I find the life cycle of the butterfly fascinating as it comes in stages (though most insects do go through the same stages) but the butterfly is different. It was ugly as a caterpillar but after the process of metamorphosis, changed in both form and character.

The process of change is always occurring, of course, but in the last year my life took a 180 degree turn, with a list of things happening almost all at once. I've moved back home, almost hitting deadline of my final year project, my friends getting hooked up, my brother going to a new school, going for internship and many more. The process of metamorphosis occurred so fast that I have no time to adjust, and now finally after 2 months I've just getting comfortable and settled down with the new lifestyle.

My mom have to move back to Melacca with my brother and my dad and I have to stay in Seremban. When mom comes back during the weekends, my dad has to go back for his tuition classes they are like the Sheperd and the Seamstress in Chinese folklore they only meet once a year in the middle of the milky way so I'm stuck with all household chores while my mom is in Melacca. Oh well, I'll manage.

Of course as we are now in the year of 2012, I will and am going to change while adapt to new lifestyle and habits. I will share more as we progress into the new year. Embrace the metamorphosis and adapt after we have metamorphosed. ^^

Dark Days...

I'm trying to toughen myself up to prevent the pain from seeping in... the lost of a pet could really bring you down. To all pet owners who had lost their pets in the past, my belated condolescence...

Two days prior my 20th birthday, my friends Eddy & Sam brought over the most wonderful and surprising gift, two adorable hamsters as my early birthday gift... The two instantly became the attention of my housemates of the same floor and my most prized possession. The two were named Barnie and Minnie as they told me that they were a pair.

On the before my birthday, Barnie caught a strange disease that made his eye bulge out...it was terrifying to watch so I got my friend who was going to Ipoh the next day to bring him to the vet... by the time they got back it was too late... Barnie's eye was blind and his other eye was sealed shut...It was painful to see him suffer and around 3am the next morning he passed...

"Minnie" who turns out to be a "Mickey" instead was my only companion now that Barnie has gone to heaven. I spent big bucks trying to keep his cage clean and sanitised, buying him toys like the hamster ball and the sanitiser from the pet shop...he was happy and healthy until yesterday where he started to sleep for the whole day and got all sloppy in his movements...

At first, I thought he was hibernating but it turned out to be more than that... In the afternoon, he passed on to join Barnie... I am now in pain .... gut wrenching pain just took over me when I saw him lying there motionless as if he was sleeping but not reacting when i called his name...

I cried... but no amount of crying could numb me from the pain... it's so sad to lose a pet.I'm crying as I'm writing this... I hope I'll get over this soon...

HE REPLIED... !!! ^^

oh happy, happy day...!!I could finally get started on my 3rd journalism assignment- interview a sports journalist and write a soft news. I am so happy that the rough and arrogant sounding man from the other end of the phone actually took the time to reply my interview questions.

I was so nervous yesterday when i called The Sun Daily and asked if I could interview their sports journalist. The receptionist or phone operator connected me to the sports section where a "blur-blur" journalist answered the phone. After a brief introduction, he cut me off and ask me to talk to his editor instead. Getting really nervous by now, I stammered a little while talking to the editor of the sports section of the Sun Daily.

The man who answered has a rough and a hint of frustration in his voice. When I stated my purpose and inquired whether I could interview one of his journalists he just said," send it to me." which caught me completely by surprise. Grabbing the chance, I asked for his e-mail address and ask when he will be able to reply. He just gave a short laugh and said," I'm always busy, the soonest maybe by tomorrow."...

His reply really made me nervous ... and questions keep popping up in my mind after i hung up the phone, what if he didn't reply in time, what if he just don't reply etc. Well, the real surprise came when I opened my mail this evening. There it was, his reply in my in-box with all the question answered beautifully and in much detail. I'm so happy that I have to share this news with my group-mates!!

I'm glad I took the effort to call him and ask for the chance of interviewing him. Hurrah!! and thank GOD that he replied!!

P.S: anyone looking for a job in the newspaper industry? He is looking for a sports sub-editor to start in May.
Requirements : must be computer savvy and love all types of sports apart from football.
No experience, no problem^^

That's all from me after such a long time of silence.. wish you all a happy, happy day ahead! ^^
